On December 28th, the community gathered for the annual Menorah Lighting on 43rd Street, a cherished tradition that has been shining brightly for over four years. Started by Mark Lifton, the Menorah Lighting was designed to bring the light of Hanukkah alongside the festive Christmas displays on the street. Mark, together with his friend Bill Simon, crafted the stunning menorah from pipes sourced at Home Depot, creating a unique and beautiful symbol of the Festival of Lights.
This year, Mark’s friends had the honor of lighting the candles, continuing the powerful legacy he began. The lighting ceremony was a touching reminder of the values of hope, unity, and community that the menorah represents. It brought neighbors together to celebrate Hanukkah, share in the joy of the season, and reflect on the importance of light in both the holiday and our lives.
The Menorah Lighting has become more than just a tradition; it is a symbol of the strength and connection within the community. As the menorah’s glow illuminated the winter evening, it was a reminder that, together, we can bring light and warmth to those around us. We are grateful to Mark for starting this beautiful tradition, and to everyone who continues to keep it alive.
